Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra announced, featuring 15-inch mini-LED display, NVIDIA Blackwell RTX, 128GB unified memory, and more
Microsoft has announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful Surface device to date, aimed at developers, AI researchers, software engineers, and creative professionals. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA, the new laptop is designed to handle demanding workloads, including large-scale AI models, software development, 3D rendering, and content creation, while maintaining the portability of a traditional laptop.

The Surface Laptop Ultra introduces a new high-performance architecture that bridges the gap between workstation-class desktops and portable computing. At the heart of the device is an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU, marking the first time Microsoft has integrated NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell graphics architecture into the Surface lineup. The platform offers full CUDA support and delivers up to 1 petaflop of AI compute, enabling users to run AI models with up to 120 billion parameters locally without relying on cloud resources.
One of the key highlights of the Surface Laptop Ultra is its unified memory architecture, which can be configured with up to 128 GB of unified memory. Unlike traditional systems that separate system memory and graphics memory, the unified design dynamically allocates resources between the CPU and GPU based on workload requirements. This allows developers and creators to run complex AI models, software compilation tasks, and rendering workloads simultaneously with minimal performance bottlenecks.
Microsoft says the Surface Laptop Ultra was engineered using an “inside-out” design philosophy, with mechanical, electrical, thermal, acoustic, and software teams working together to optimize performance and efficiency. The custom cooling system is designed to handle the thermal demands of the Blackwell RTX GPU while maintaining quiet operation. Despite its powerful hardware, Microsoft claims the laptop retains a lightweight form factor and offers all-day battery life.
On the front, the laptop features a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra mini-LED touchscreen with HDR support and up to 2,000 nits peak brightness. The display offers a pixel density of 262 PPI and is tuned for high color accuracy, making it suitable for content creation, design work, and professional applications. Microsoft has also equipped the device with its largest haptic touchpad to date for improved navigation and precision.
Connectivity is another major focus. Unlike many modern thin-and-light laptops that depend heavily on dongles, the Surface Laptop Ultra includes a wide selection of built-in ports, including HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, an SD card slot, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Microsoft says the device has also been designed with repairability and long-term durability in mind.
The Surface Laptop Ultra runs Windows and is optimized for RTX Spark and AI-focused development workflows, allowing developers and creators to take full advantage of the underlying hardware from day one.

Brett Ostrum, corporate vice president of Surface at Microsoft, said, “Surface has always exemplified the best of what a Windows PC can be. With Surface Laptop Ultra, we’re bringing that focus to creators, developers and engineers who need serious performance in a device that is thoughtfully designed, portable and deeply connected to the Windows tools and platform they count on. Our work with NVIDIA will deliver a Surface built for the way ambitious work gets done.”
